Hawaiian Mandala IV - ANTHURIUMS

Medium
Painting - Watercolor & Ink
Description
The fourth in a series of ink-and-watercolor that combine island images in kaleidoscope-like symmetry. The piece is reminiscent of the Buddhist or Hindu mandala. Mandalas symbolize balance and here we see the balance of island life: anthuriums, petroglyphs, monstera leaves, i'iwi (native bird), and a beach scene combine here. The four corners of the mandala show the Hawaiian sunshine and the center shows the fires of Kilauea volcano.
Looks great in a white mat and simple black frame, and if you order your prints on watercolor paper, it has the look of an original watercolor.
