Title
Hawaiian Mandala I - PALM TREES
Artist
Diane Thornton
Medium
Painting - Watercolor & Ink
Description
This is the first in a series of geometric images with a Hawaiian theme, reminiscent of the Buddhist or Hindu mandala. Mandalas symbolize balance and here we see the balance of island life: fire, water, plant-life, sunshine, water life. Palm trees, breadfruit, sand, surf, and tropical fish are just some of the images depicted here. Looks great in a white mat and simple black frame, and if you order your prints on watercolor paper, it has the appearance of an original watercolor.

Aloha Diane, I'm enjoying the adventure of touring your FAA gallery. Your bright colorful illustrations are wonderful. I love all the Hawaiian symbols in this one.
Diane Thornton replied:
Mahalo! I have 4 in this series and enjoyed every one of them. I tried to get all aspects of island life in each, from the fire of Kilauea to the sea.
